Scotland’s International Environment Centre is driving the creation of a net-zero regional economy across the Forth Valley, unlocking new opportunities for employment and skills development, as Scotland makes the transition to cleaner, greener ways of working.
Led by the University of Stirling, the Centre is pioneering collaborative solutions to global challenges, putting innovation, skills, and partnership at the heart of a sustainable economic recovery. Scotland’s International Environment Centre is funded by investment of £17m from the Scottish Government, £5m from the UK Government, alongside additional funding from the University of Stirling and Clackmannanshire Council, as part of the Stirling and Clackmannanshire City Region Deal.The Environment Centre’s mission is to be a regional and national catalyst to grow environmental innovation capability, capacity and impact by:
- Building strategic partnerships across industry
- Developing and embedding sustainable practices
- Growing the next generation of net zero businesses
- Creating a regional talent pool and opportunities for clean growth
Scotland’s International Environment Centre is designed to deliver a range of benefits to address major economic and social challenges within the City region including amongst others, regional investment in research and development, creation of new jobs, produce skilled people who are confident and aspirational, as well as to make the region prosperous, attractive to business, people and ensure fair opportunities for all.
